Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to your morning oats or muesli. Cinammon lowers cholesterol levels, regulates blood sugar levels, increases metabolism and speeds up the body’s fat burning processes - a Super Spice.

RCUK’s Summer Open Day on Sunday 6th June was well attended and enjoyed by everyone who came

Guest speaker Mark Ballard from Premier Training International in Bournemouth, gave a weight loss talk entitled ‘The Glycaemic Load, Carbs and Why Low Fat Diets Don’t Work’. It cleared up many grey areas people had about the often misunderstood topic of carbohydrates and among toehr things, highlighted just how detrimental to our health and blood sugar levels caffeine is.

Everyone who attended took away some vital new tips to improve their nutrition and make their diets healthier, and how understanding the Glycaemic Load is key to optimum nutrition.

‘The Low-GL Diet Bible’ by Patrick Holford is the best book to read for anyone who wants to know more.

There will be future events organised so watch this space for the next Open Day.
